The NHS 111 service has added an online website service to its telephone service.

People needing medical help and advice can now choose to use either method to seek appropriate treatment and avoid having to go to A&E departments or ring for an ambulance if the medical condition isn't life-threatening.

Of course, if you need an ambulance for something medically critical you should ring 999, but NHS 111 is a valuable first port of call and they can arrange ambulance service or a doctor's visit for you if needed.
