Macmillan Cancer Support: 5 Big issues facing people with cancer right now
Each year more than 385,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in the U.K with an estimated 3 million people currently living with cancer across the UK.
The insights are drawn from a recent survey of 2,000 people with cancer that Macmillan carried out in partnership with leading market research agency YouGov, as well as data drawn from clinical assessments of cancer patients’ needs and concerns carried out via Macmillan’s Electronic Holistic Needs Assessment tool. The findings of the survey highlighted five of the big issues people with cancer in the UK are concerned about right now.
Key take-aways include:
- 23% of people with cancer are concerned about travel insurance.
- 16% of people with cancer have expressed concern about rising costs.
- 25% of people with cancer experience fatigue and tiredness.
- Sleep problems are a leading concern of people with breast cancer.
- 20% of people with cancer are also living with anxiety.
