Healthwatch Wandsworth Assembly - 8 February 2017

Our event in February focused on electing our new Healthwatch Executive and changes to the way that health services in our community work together and be co-ordinated by a new organisation. Find out more what happened at our event.

Our public Assembly was held on Wednesday the 8th February at the Yvonne Carr Centre in Battersea.

Four members of the Healthwatch Executive Board were elected, with two new members joining the Board for the first time. The Executive Board plays a role in ensuring good governance and clear strategic planning for Healthwatch Wandsworth’s projects. Read about our executive here.

We also heard about a new way of working for the NHS - MCPs, or Multispecialty Community Providers.

What is a Multispecialty Community Provider (MCP) and how will it work?

  • NHS services will be working with the Battersea Community Interest Company (CIC) GP Federation, which is now responsible for co-ordinating out of hospital care in our borough as something called an MCP.
  • Their focus will be ensuring health and care professionals work together in a co-ordinated way to achieve better care at home and in the community, across a variety of services.
  • Battersea CIC has also appointed a Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Lead who plans to engage and communicate with patients in different ways to make sure that services meet their needs.

There were a lot of questions from people who attended. You can find out more by downloading the presentation and the Q and A notes.
