Are you interested to become a Healthwatch Committee Member?

Healthwatch plays a vital role, working with the NHS and social services in Wandsworth to represent local patients and residents and ensure that their voices are heard.  We are inviting applications from individuals interested in joining its governing Committee. Might you be interested?

This is different to our other volunteer roles because it is more focused on guiding how Healthwatch Wandsworth works and making sure we are on the right track.

Personal qualities

We welcome interest and applications from individuals who are committed to promoting the voice of residents and patients, and ensuring that Healthwatch delivers effectively and meets its statutory and other obligations.

Wandsworth is a highly diverse community and we welcome applications from people - of all ages and backgrounds - who reflect this.

Similarly, we welcome individuals with a range of relevant personal and professional experience: for example, if you’ve been a patient with direct experience of health and/or social services; or if you have worked with a local community or communities; or if you have relevant clinical or service delivery experience in the sector or elsewhere.

You don’t need previous experience of being part of a committee - we will offer support and mentoring as necessary.  But we are looking for people with the personal interest and skills to work effectively together with others in a committee setting.

Interested? What to do next.

  1. Get in touch to have a chat if you want to.
  2. Send us with 100-250 works to tell us why you are interested and a bit about your relevant background.
  3. Meet with other members of the committee before in June or July.
  4. Take a look at the timeline below to learn about what the next steps are.
  5. Make sure you are signed up as a Healthwatch Wandsworth Member

What is the time commitment
This is an important part of our organisation so compared to our other volunteer roles it is more important that you can commit to:

  • attend 4-6 meetings per year, with some more time spent reading about our work and other ad hoc contributions
  • inductions will be necessary and option of a mentor
